  • LACQUERED MAINTENANCE INFO

    Maintenace of Lacquered Hardwood Floor

A lacquered hardwood floor will naturally wear, depending in the stresses to which it is exposed. For this reason, it is recommended that the floor is regularly maintained.

Daily: Floors should be swept and vacuumed to remove dust and dirt. Entrance matting should also be cleaned and vacuumed regularly.

As required: Dirt and spillages should be removed using a damp mop and a cleaner recommended for lacquered wood floors. Care should be taken to restrict the amount of water left on the surface.

Occasionally: The floor should be treated with an acrylic floor polish. Use as directed on the container.

Periodic maintenance: It is advised that the condition of the lacquered finish is monitored every six months. When it proves necessary to do so, apply further coasts of finish. Follow instructions on container.

Notes: Dirt and sand act like sandpaper on the floor and therefore should be removed as soon as possible. We recommend the use of felt pads on all table and chair legs and a good size door mat at the entrance.

Despite regular maintenance, after a period of time- possibly some years – the floor will require refinishing. At this time, please see the advice of a professional floor restorer. For further assistance, please contact Fore Wood Floors - We're happy to help!

  • COREtec Flooring

This care guide is relevant for COREtec® Essentials®Naturals collections.

Proper care will help protect and maintain the appearance and performance of your COREtec® floor.

A care program consists of key areas:

    1. Post-construction maintenance

    2. Preventive maintenance

    3. Routine maintenance

    4. Spot and spill removal

    Post-construction Maintenance

    • Dry mop COREtec® using a microfiber mop pad or an appropriate floor vacuum to remove all the dust particulate from the floor.

    • Wet mop the floor using a neutral pH cleaner such as the COREtec® Daily Cleaner or use the COREtec®

Deep Cleaner with a microfiber wet mop pad. Mop the floor in sections and replace the pad if it becomes dirty.

    • Always rinse the floor with water only by mopping with water to remove any remaining residue from the floor.

    • A cylindrical floor scrubber using a neutral pH cleaner such as the COREtec® Daily Cleaner or the

COREtec® Deep Cleaner can be used. Never dry buff.

    • Skirtings can be cleaned using a neutral pH floor cleaner, such as the COREtec® Daily Cleaner.

For new construction or renovation: construction dust and joint compound can be deposited on the flooring.

If it is not completely removed and then wet mopped, it could create a haze on the surface of the flooring.

When COREtec® is cleaned properly, it will have the same visual as right out of the box!

    Preventive Maintenance

    • Always protect COREtec® when moving heavy objects to prevent permanent scratches and tears.

    • Use appropriate wide floor protectors /Pads under tables, chairs and any other heavy home furnishing to avoid permanent damage.

    • Walk-off mats should be used at all entrances to absorb soil and moisture. If mats are placed directly on top of COREtec®, use mats without latex or rubber backings to avoid possible discoloration.

    • Use appropriate window coverings to limit direct sunlight as this can fade the color of the flooring.

    Routine Maintenance

    • Regular removal of dirt and dust is important to prevent particles from abrading the surface of COREtec®

Sweeping, dust mopping and vacuuming are recommended to remove soil particles that can result in scratches and worn appearances.

Do not use vacuums with rotating beater bars.

    • Periodic wet cleaning using a neutral pH floor cleaner, such as the COREtec® Daily Cleaner, is necessary

to maintain COREtec® appearance. Always pre-vacuum or dust mop before any type of wet cleaning.

Do not use abrasive cleaners or cleaning agents that leave dull residues on the surface of the floors.

Follow the cleaning manufacturer’s instructions for wet mopping and application. If rinsing is necessary,

use clean water and expedite drying with air movers or fans.

    • Mop and shine products as well as products containing bleach are not recommended.

    • Steam mops should not be used for

    • Skirtings can be cleaned using a neutral pH floor cleaner, such as the COREtec® Daily Cleaner.

    Spot and Spill Removal

COREtec® is engineered to resist and minimize common staining.

    • Absorb wet spills as quickly as possible by blotting with paper or cloth towels. Rinse with water if necessary and blot dry.

    • Dried spots should be removed by gentle agitation and rinsed with water. Blot dry.

    • If necessary, use a stain specific cleaner, such as the COREtec® Stain Remover. Do not use detergents

or abrasive cleaners since these products could leave a dull residue.

    • Use rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) with a clean white cloth for spots requiring a solvent type cleaner

that water and cleaning agents cannot remove.

    • Please note that some stain conditions may become permanent

    Mechanical Cleaning

    • Steam cleaners cannot be used for COREtec® Sound Core and Pro Core but can be used for COREtec®

    Mineral Core.

    • Mechanical cleaning equipment like auto scrubber, rotocleaner or single-brush machines can be used

on the condition than they don’t go faster than 250 rotations per minute and that accessories (eg. brush)

are adapted. Never dry clean with one of these equipment.

CAUTION: it is the user responsibility to follow properly and carefully the user guide of these mechanical

cleaning equipment and related accessories and check their compatibility with COREtec® before taking any
